Scrum master is a job that approaches problems that have no right answer, mainly for the purpose of total optimization, so it's going to be tough.
He will probably suffer.

同僚が出世することが決まった。
最高に嬉しい。
同じプログラマーとしてスタートしたやつだったが、ファシリテーション力が認められてスクラムマスターとしてやっていくことになりそうだ。
スクラムマスターは全体最適化を主とする正解のない問題に対してアプローチしていく仕事だから大変そうだ。
きっと彼は苦しむことになるだろう。
しかし彼のキャリアにとって凄く有意義になる事は間違いないので頑張って欲しい。
